ABOUT

National Preservation Alliance (NPA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2020 by Omar Wilks. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Wilks grew up in a family deeply rooted in community service, an upbringing that shaped his lifelong commitment to serving others. This foundation inspired him to pursue extensive knowledge and professional development in the field of preparedness management, where he has remained actively engaged for more than two decades.

Motivated by the devastating impacts of Hurricane Katrina and the systemic challenges exposed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Wilks recognized an urgent need for more preparedness management organizations dedicated to supporting communities with limited access to critical resources. NPA was established to help address these gaps by strengthening community resilience, improving access to preparedness education, and empowering individuals and families to better withstand and recover from disasters.

NPA Ascend - is a strategic program designed to foster collaboration between communities and developers to advance sustainable, resilience-focused initiatives. The program supports green space improvements that promote health and wellness, the development of affordable housing integrated with solar-powered renewable energy solutions, and the creation of green jobs that benefit both people and the environment.

Together, these efforts represent a comprehensive approach to preparedness management—strengthening community resilience, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
